Should I Landscape a New Construction Home Right Away?

Short answer

Address drainage and soil early to protect your foundation; the rest can be phased over your first year or two.

New homes in DFW almost always come with the bare minimum, a strip of sod, a few shrubs, and a lot that's been scraped and compacted by heavy equipment during construction. That leaves both an opportunity and a couple of things worth handling sooner rather than later.

The priority is what's beneath the surface: drainage and soil. Builder grading often sends water the wrong way, and compacted clay makes it hard for anything to establish. Correcting drainage early protects your foundation and gives future plantings a real chance to thrive.

The rest, full planting plans, patios, and outdoor living, can absolutely be phased over your first year or two. We'll help you build a complete master plan, then prioritize what to do now and what to add as you settle in.
