North Texas

Do I Need a Permit for a Patio or Outdoor Kitchen in Texas?

Short answer

A simple paver patio often doesn't, but gas, electrical, and plumbing work usually does. We handle the permitting for you.

It depends on the work and your city. A basic paver patio at grade often doesn't require a permit, but the moment you add gas lines for a grill or fire feature, electrical for lighting or outlets, or plumbing for a sink, permits typically come into play. Many DFW cities and HOAs also have their own requirements and architectural review.

Permitting exists for good reason, gas and electrical work done wrong is dangerous, and unpermitted work can become a problem when you sell. It's not worth the risk to skip it.

As a design-build firm, we handle the permitting and HOA submittals for you. We know the local requirements across the communities we serve, so your project is done to code without you having to navigate city hall.
